Micro Welding Services For Defense Applications

Achieving Precision and Reliability

In the realm of manufacturing and fabrication, meeting the specific standards and requirements of different industries is crucial. One such industry that demands the utmost precision and adherence to regulations is military and defense welding and manufacturing. Companies involved in providing parts, components, or equipment to the US Military must comply with stringent MIL-SPEC or Military Standard specifications.

With these standards, we recognize the unique welding challenges faced by the defense industry and understand a different type of welding is needed for this industry. We offer percussion welding solutions for micro-welding in defense applications, catering to the precise, controlled, and specific welding requirements of small parts and components. Our percussion welding technology delivers robust and enduring butt welds, even when working with dissimilar types of metals.

Our micro welding solution for defense applications is designed to be user-friendly, allowing for manual welding operations. Additionally, our system can seamlessly integrate into automated processes, providing versatility for various manufacturing scenarios. Whether you require prototyping, small-volume orders on specific parts or components, or large-scale production, our Percussion Welder system delivers exceptional results.

The value of our welding for defense applications lies in its unique approach. By combining an electrical arc across a pre-defined gap with the application of pressure through percussion, our system achieves a bonded, liquid molten state between the metal components, resulting in a superior micro weld. This weld is not only strong and precise but also eliminates the need for filler materials, streamlining the welding process.

The Percussion Welder Monitor

When it comes to welding for defense applications, achieving precise and reliable welds is paramount. That’s where the design features on our Percussion Welder, excels. With its unique niche in the industry, Percussion Welder provides unparalleled capabilities that meet the rigorous demands of defense manufacturing. With Percussion Welder and the Percussion Weld Monitor, you can confidently tackle welding projects for defense applications. Our cutting-edge technology empowers you to achieve precision, reliability, and traceability in every weld. To ensure exceptional quality control, we offer the Percussion Welder Monitor as an additional tool alongside our welder and bench unit. This monitor promptly identifies good and no-good welds, allowing for immediate action and maintaining stringent quality standards. It also offers waveform analysis, providing invaluable insights for weld development. By studying the characteristics of different waveforms, weld settings can be fine-tuned to achieve optimal results. This allows for the creation of a “Signature” waveform that is tailored to the specific requirements of any particular product. With this advanced analysis, you can ensure that your welds meet the highest quality standards in defense manufacturing.

Defense engineering often demands the use of specialized materials that are capable of withstanding immense pressure and temperature. In order to meet these requirements, many applications involve welding together various alloys and exotic metals. Such materials require expert handling to ensure a secure and safe connection.

At our company, we have years of experience working with a range of materials and a variety of complex metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel, and titanium. Our expertise allows us to guarantee a precise weld that will protect stronger for longer. When accuracy and controllable welding solutions for defense equipment are of utmost importance, turn to the knowledgeable team at Percussion Welder. Adjustments & Features of the
Model 858 Front Panel

Actuator: The actuator setting
controls the charging voltage of the
capacitors that energize the
electromagnetic actuators. The range is
0 to 150 volts. The actuators move
the weldments together
during the welding process.

Delay: The delay is 0.5 to 5.0
milliseconds between actuator
initiation and discharge
of weld energy.

Weld: The weld energy voltage
control determines the charging
voltage applied to the
weld capacitors. The range
is 0 to 150 volts.

Mode: There are two mode settings,
regular and heavy-duty.
Heavy Duty adds an additional
bank of capacitors to
the weld output.

Pulse: The long / short pulse
width switch provides the
operator with pulse
width control. A long pulse
delivers less peak energy
for a long time
than a short pulse.

Polarity: Controls the direction of
weld energy electron flow.
The direction of electron flow
affects the amount of
heat applied to each weldment.

Capacitance: This setting controls the
amount of capacitance in the
weld output circuit. There
are three capacitance
ranges labeled 1, 2 and 3.
