Pick two materials
You will get a feasibility report: what we have tested, how your size compares, what makes the pair hard, and what to do next.
FAQ
What does the checker tell me?
Whether your material pair appears in our lab weld-schedule data, how your wire size compares with the sizes we have tested, how far apart the two metals are in melting point and heat flow, surface-prep notes, and what to send us for a test.
My material is not in the list. Can I still use it?
Yes. Choose “Something else” and type the material. Specialty alloys are often missing from published data. We run applications tests on customer materials, so this is a common starting point.
Does “not tested together yet” mean it cannot be welded?
No. It means we have no published schedule for that pair. The quickest way to find out is a test of your materials. Free applications tests are available.
Are the settings guaranteed?
No. Lab schedules are starting points. Alloy, temper, surface condition, fixture setup and gap all change the result, so always test and validate joint strength on your own parts.
Where do the melting-point and heat-flow numbers come from?
They are approximate handbook values for the pure metals. Alloys melt over a range and conduct heat differently, so treat them as a guide to how different the two metals are.
